I am just wondering if the problem that the member has is just that the engine won't pull in 5th from
such a low rpm in top.
I can't see why you would roll onto full throttle at 3k rpm in 5th.
If you consider road speed andmilesper hr in top you are still short of max torque so the issues he reports would happen . The drive train is being laboured. Hence the symptoms.
An to occur on two cars the probability is remote of a mapping fault?
Surely the dealer could validate his "problem".

Here's hoping

Sorry also about my accessory post earlier ( rather non post, thanks to those that helped out , cheers:)

Hi mike, yes my first thought was that I was being to early on the power at above 50mph but the noise stays there till you get to 80mph. I took the car to the vw tech centre in milton keynes which is where all the cars are made ready for the roadtests with magazines including what car, the guy drove my car said that you are fine to put your foot down In 5th above 50 and that the noise was a gearbox bearing, which is the second car now in 10 days to do it. I think vw are going to look into up gearboxes

Wholly respect your position. Driven triples since ''99
Stunned that Vag say to roll on in 5 at such low revs.
Triples thrive on revs call them, rev hungry!

I hope you get this sorted.

Cheers
