You should get a free autoglym care kit when you take delivery. It has everything you'll need bar a bucket and water.

Doesn't the Care Kit only come "free" when you opt for the Life Shine package, which apparently costs £300?

I've been using Autoglym for many years and it does a very good job, both on cars and motorbikes.

Buy one of the starter packs in a car accessories shop in the zip box bag for about £40. A good sponge, bucket, second bucket if you cannot hose or jetwash off. chamouix leather works.well.for drying off. tesco pack of microfibre cloths for the polish and that is all you'll need. Oh and a toilet brush to use the wheel.cleaner with. use sparingly.

Or look at Dodo products. Last a long time and have some good eco credentials.

No idea what I did wrong there in the post above. You are correct with the statement about the Autoglym treatment costing nearly £300. But asI have pointed out elsewhere the leaflet advertising it was misleading to say the least. I was under the impression that the treatment was free and there was also a free complimentary car kit when you bought the Up!

Because of continuous delays in the delivery of my car and because Ie-mailed the head honcho at VW U.K. complaining. He promised me a "sweetener" when the car was eventually delivered. On delivery however that was conveniently forgotten. So when he phoned me a few days later and asked me what I thought of the car. I told him the car was great but thatI was completely underwhelmed with the sweetener. He then asked me whatI would like and I said "Six years free servicing". That got a derisive laugh and then he said he had heard that I had been asking about the missing Autoglym products etc. He asked if I would settle for the package free and the complimentary kit free and I said "Yes". So on Tuesday I take my car in for the day whilst they do that and they are giving me an Up! as a courtesy car for the day.

I have no idea what is so special about the Autoglym stuff. I have always used Carnuba wash and wax on my vehicles. So I shall have something to compare it with.

It would be useful to have the email address of the the head guy in the UK - Customer service do not live up to their title.

I have used carnauba-based polish in the past (Zymöl) and still have some kicking around. It gives a very good shine, and doesn't leave white marks, but when I had to get the tailgate of my Cinquecento re-painted (rust bubbling through from the inside and the car was only a couple of years old at the time), when I got it back, the polish had been removed by the paint preparation products and the finish looked absolutely dreadful.

I've tried various potions over the years - Mer, Zymöl, and others I've forgotten about - and it's the easiest to get hold of and with the best range of different kinds of finishes for all the nooks and crannies of your car. The wheel cleaner is particularly effective.

Not a fan of the shampoo (use Zymol instead) but used the Aqua Wax today and very pleased with the results. All other Autoglym products I have tried have worked well.

That's how I understand it i.e. the Autoglym Life Shine was in with the purchase of my Up! and the car care kit with all the autoglym products in it, all be it relatively small bottles, was included.

This page shows the car care kit:http://www.lifeshine.co.uk/about.asp

Is anyone else getting complimentary servicing to?

You can find most Head Honcho's e-mail addresses on this site, including the VW CEO's both here and in Germany. But of course when you do get through to them you will inevitably be put in the care of someone else a bit lower down the chain of command. But don't overdo it, be polite and keep it brief.

I have no idea why the text appears in colour etc whenI include an address Sorry.

Ive gone for the lineshine treatment and I will be keeping my car for a long time hopefully and would like to keep it as sparkly and new as possible..... especially if im stupid and leave the sunroof open and it rains...

the free kit does indeed only come with the lifeshine treatment, which is not normally free, my dad had the treatment done on his eos and it works wonders, even rained one when driving with roof down, couldnt stop because on motorway and there was not a mark on the leather seats!
the products in the free kit arent the huge bottles but they are all normal size that you can buy.

I didn't think the size of the bottles in my pack was small... Standard size. I washed her for the first time this weekend, and doesn't need waxing yet.. Usually a bottle of car shampoo lasts me a couple of years so i think i'll get good use out of the pack... although i'm intending to wash my car more than just once a month now.
Yes I've complimentary free servicing too for 3 years.
