Hi All. I just thought that it would be useful for members and people interested in the Up! to know how well it did in the crash tests. It is often overlooked when buying a new car, and worth knowing that your not driving a death trap!
I've got the results for Euro NCAP and the Elk test for you all to view.

Here's the link for the Euro NCAP results:

</a>
Here's the Google Translate link for the Elk test:

Our little car has done very well. See for yourselves!

Admin, maybe worth putting a sticky on this for future reference for new members etc.

I hope this helps.

Hi all. Just thought I would also add a link to the video of the crash test, and one of the City Emergency Brake system in operation and the ESC (Electronic Stability Control, from Youtube.

Here's the link for the crash test video:

It's now the same sort of shape as a smart car!
I hope everyone was ok, the front looks good, but the back seats look squashed.

Few cars will look good after such an ordeal - with a similarly sized car that's 5 to 10 years older in design, this would have been a fatal accident.Edited by: _1S_

If someone had been in that back of that up! it would surely have been fatal as well.

I think the results would have been the same in almost any hatchback given the circumstances. It looks pretty nasty. When you consider how safe the Up! is, just imagine if that had been a cheap import like the City Rover, it would be game over!

Bloody ****, that's scary. As you say Matt, that would have atomised a Cityrover. I wouldn't have liked to be in an Aygo or Dacia Sandero in that situation either.

Hi Allybasher. A big 10/4 on that one! Even a 1 series beemer would have been pulverised by that. In fact I bet not many cars would have done much better.
I think the results for the Up! are very good considering it's "City car" status, especially beating Merc's beemers, and even a Volvo!!!! on the Elk test.

As the saying goes around here :
If our cat was a cow, we could milk her behind the stove.

You need a bit of luck now and then ...
Note the Volvo V50 below the Ford Transit.
