DAB is a big omission imho

most dab devices work well , esp if you go via aux in but remember, You WILL need a decent external antenna, receiving dab on the move is a whole different kettle of fish to a stationary radio and signal quality is all!

there is a good in-car dab site that rates antennas

Good for impartial advice.

I used to use a pure highway but with all the trailling wires etc I stopped and now just dump podcasts/shows to a memory card and take that with me.

Trouble is what is the point of having DAB as the Government is going change which type we use apparently in a few years time! The Europeans have the best system, but of course we go off half cocked in a different direction!

I got DAB as an option in my big, family car (a Volvo XC60). Never used the DAB as we can't get a reception where we live (South Downs area in Sussex). So when we came to speccing the Mii, the lack of a DAB option wasn't a problem for us.

The Government can't be serious about turning off FM. It's not the same as TVs where people generally over have a couple and it's relatively easy to put a digibox beneath. I've got so many old radios kicking around the house and garage/sheds that it would be a real shame for them to all be unusuable.

I collect my car tomorrow. When I ordered the car i asked for a DAB tuner from the VW approved list which the dealer had. It is being fitted by a specialist firm at the dealers, but I was warned that it would have its own one-year guarantee. Cost £199 + vat

I have posted the details of the DAB tuner and some pictures under "technical/technical/Radio upgrade" and don't want to clutter the forum up with duplicate posts. My unit is an Alpine EZi-DAB and it works well so far.
