I posted elsewhere on this site about a problem with my Up! that began a couple of weeks ago: the ABS & TC lights had come on.

My (Independent) mechanic plugged in his diagnostics, which indicated a faulty ABS wheel sensor.

He replaced this part today but the error is still there.

He has referred me to a local auto electrician and I'm taking the car there tomorrow morning.

My guess is an electronic fault — possibly the ECU or some other computer chip.

Does anyone have any knowledge of the electronic systems on these cars? Any idea what might be wrong?

Also - how much does it cost to replace an ECU / can I fit a used one?

Thanks

Stephen.

Update: looking more likely to be the ABS module, which I think is part of the ABS pump. I mailed a company that repairs them. Will post here what I find out.

Auto electrician said the problem was corrosion in part of the wiring harness. I hope he's right. Corroded part will be replaced tomorrow all being well.

Update: the corroded part of the harness was replaced by the auto electrician. £25 parts; £40 diagnostics; £90 labour + VAT. Light is out and car seems fine now.
