Not sure if this is the right section for this question

I have a 69 plate Up (it says 1.0 BMT move) and it's on a fixed service interval (Q14). The oil that's recommended is VW 502 which is 5w40.

I plan on changing the oil yearly and will be doing about 6000 miles per annum. I live in a rural location where there's little traffic and most journeys will be about 5-10 miles.

My question is whether 5w30 is a better oil for my usage and if so can I use 5w30 or should I stick to 5w40?

It makes zero difference for your usage, and living in the UK. The car will probably outlast you. Sorry - than didn't come out nicely!

So basically no benefit in 5w30 and just stick to 5w40?
