Been a while since my last post about my leakingsunroof problem, so thought i would update on a new thread. My Up High has now been back with the dealer longer then it has with me!! never a good start to the customer ownership experience.
The dealer has advised me VW's instructions to them was to remove the sunroof and seals, replace the sunroof and reseal, now, although a large dealership, they do not have their own bodyshop, so have called in a company that specifically deals with this kind of problem, their advice was removing and replacing the sunroof may not solve the problem and could causeleaks to return in the future, apparently it was explained to me that it has something to do with removing the original sunroof andwhen put back any slight removal damage that may occur, then the seals may not hold to prevent further leaks.
This outside company has suggested a new sunroof should be ordered and shipped over from Germany and refitted, thus avoiding levering out the original one then putting it back again. The dealer is currently waiting authorisation from VW. Also i understand a couple of goodwill gestures are being put in place.
Having been given the explanation about removing the old sunroof and replacing it with a new one, does make me feel more confident that this isn't being treated as a short term botch job.
