Thought I would join so I can pass on some valuable information for anyone else looking to fit original VW parking sensors to their UP!

So I bought my wife a VW UP! She has a 2013 auto with 31k on the clock and has most of the extras.

First of all, the cheapest deal I found was £400 and the most expensive was £600 (more than the main dealer).

Well the good new is, my total spend to fit the original VW parking sensors was £180 pounds but it was a headache!

1. Make sure you have the Map & more stereo system
2. I managed to buy the original VW parking sensors for £70! Brand new with instructions and nothing missing! The part number is 1S0054630 and will cost around £180 from the shop. I managed to haggle with an Ebay seller who sells all original VW parts.
3. Installation. There is a company called AH Audio who specialises in car audio and parking sensors. I spoke to about 5 different installation companies and most of them said they need to take the bumper off but AH Audio did it without taking it off and a clean and precise job too! Please be aware the original sensors has a cable which runs to a module behind the headunit. Also it took time to dismantle some of the housing around the gearbox, AH Audio definitely knows what he is doing as he put it back together within minutes! Based in Uxbridge, London and can be found on Facebook too. His contact number is 07786569589
5. Installation cost for the sensors were only £90 pounds by AH Audio! Again the cheapest quote I found (before I spoke to AH Audio) was £150 but when I mentioned that there is a cable which needs to go to a module behind the headunit, the guy I spoke to said he will give it a miss as it's too much work. AH AUDIO was the only serious person I was able to speak to.
4. Last of all, the VW sensors will not work unless you code it to the car. AH Audio do not have the coding software but he has a mobile coding guy. I used someone local to me as I didn't want to wait around for the coding man.

I used a Vcds diagnostic guy in hemel Hempstead who only charged £20 pounds! Usual cost is around £40. Search for vcds diagnostics on Facebook. Top bloke and knows what he is doing. Just mention the recent VW UP coding for parking sensors. Contact number is 07702033841

When reversing the car, it beeps and displays the movement on the Garmin screen!

So the total cost of £180 compared to the average of £400?
Definitely worth the headache!

Just wanted to put the information out there as I couldn't find much information online and took me a few days to research it myself.

Please be aware that most companies could not guarantee that the reverse parking display would work (but still wanted to charge £400) but I can confirm it will 100% work and will displayon the Garmin screen! For example www.advanced-incar.co.uk could not guarantee it.

Thanks for sharing. Have you got a link to the Ebay seller for the parts, I’m going to have a go at this. I’ve got vcds so can do the coding.

Is there any chance you could send over the instructions please?

thanks
