Has anyone come up with a replacement for the bonnet stay? I'd love to turn mine into a tiny gas strut instead of the OEM stay.

I'm pretty sure I got some Golf Mk1 struts off them once. I'm just wondering what size strut would do for the bonnet.

I’d be interested in this as just damaged my wing trying to close the bonnet without removing the stay as all our cars have struts

There are several posts somewhere on the forum giving details of this mod.I have done it on our up’s,I can’t remember the strut spec.but I am sure someone will be able to help.

I have just measured my gas strut the o/a length ball centre to centre is 30 cm.cylinder is 16cm, .710”dia. piston is 14cm. .312”dia.
Purchase from KMS Bradford St.Birmingham.The part no. on the cylinder is V103241.
You will need a 10mm ball & socket & one angled ball & socket.bought not supplied with strut.
This all works fine for me but obviously you do it at your own risk,hope this is of some help.
