Hi,

I put my iPhone in the cradle and have paired it with the car via Bluetooth. I am able to hear google maps voice directions but only if music is playing.

I’ve done a bit of research and it was suggested to switch off Apple Music in the google maps settings and I’ve tried that but it doesn’t work.

Anybody out there know how to hear google maps voice directions without music playing?

I know this is a "feature" of Android that what you (and indeed anyone including me!) want does not work. I have got the idea that there is a setting in maps somewhere that forces directions to the phone channel when you're not otherwise streaming e.g. listening to the in car radio and this works on IPhone but not (or is not present) on Android. Ah I see from the att image there is a switch called play as Bluetooth phone call, try that.
And this is so for TomTom also on Android.

I don't know if it the feature works for TomTom on IPhone.

It does work for Sygic but I found it not as good as a nav app.

It's because you're connected via bluetooth. If you can force it to give directions via "bluetooth phone call" then that sort of works but is annoying as it has some delay.

Try connecting via usb.
