Anyone know why the door mirror adjustment control isn't illuminated?

Also, why is there no control on the drivers door for the passenger door's electric window

There is only one reason as far as can see - cost. Eliminate a few pence here and there from the build cost, by missing out some (nice to have) features, makes the car more financially viable for VW. Just my opinion of course...

Indeed - saves the cost of an extra switch and associated wiring. BUT ... why not put the switches on/near the centre console/handbrake? That way both driver and passenger can operate the switch.
