I just ask for fuel and
Normally I get 1/2 a tank of fuel and half price mats.
for everything they can only say no, best bartering chip for
discounted mats is to say I would prefer a discount on the mats than
a bunch of flowers (yes quite a lot of new cars come with flowers).
If you say this then they are more likely to give a discount on the
mats as they can make extra money off your sale.
Also if you want
finance tell them a lower figure for the monthly payments than you
have set aside and tell them if they can do it for that you will buy
the car, use the online calculator to work out what you should be
paying and go lower then go up a bit in the negotiations and you may
save a bit.
In the past I saved about £500 using this.
anyone is thinking of getting the car standard after March the 8th
you can get yourself free met paint or a discount by asking what the
dealer has available at the docks
Wish I had read this before signing the dotted line. I was really pee'd off last year, a week before we purchased our Polo my mother in law had bought one and told us how she got a lovely sales man who gave her free mats and a big bunch of flowers when she picked up our car. When we went to sign the last of the stuff I asked our stupid salesman "so what are we getting free with our car" and told him what my my mother in law got. His reply was "your getting a free key ring". I was so not chuffed.
Nearer the time I have to pick up my Up I have to go in a "tweak" my finance stuff with the dealer. I'm going to seriously going to drive a hard bargain and walk out with some freebies after reading your advice! All I would like is some mats! And considering this is the second car I've bought from them in 12 months .... I deserve them
