This morning when washing my white up on both sides of the car I noticed I had what looks like little rusty spots all over, I've only had my car eight months and I tried to wash these away incase it was just dirt but they've not budged! Anyone else had a similar issue? Read up on a audi forum it's typically seen on white cars. Just wondering if anyone else has had any problems!?

It's embedded iron particles, these can be removed with specialised cleaners. I use a product called iron x, works very well indeed.

It's also very good on wheels too.

You can sort it yourself, or find decent valeter/detailing company to do it for you. I would trust the dealers and their gritty sponges, they'll only ruin it.
Where abouts in the world are you?

Edit: my bad, I see now, Tyne and Wear. I don't know anyone up that way, sorry :-/Edited by: Davec86

You need iron x for the iron contaminents and either autoglym tar remover or tardis tar remover.

DO NOT Clay straight over tar spots, use the cleaners first!

Literally spray on, wait 5 minutes, the rub off

I've never had a problem removing tar with clay. Not once, and personally I think my paint is in better condition than when it left the factory.

Get onto sky about that! They'll have public liability insurance to cover stuff like that. That's awful!
Going to phone skynow, sitting here at work just getting more annoyed, like i said, just popped to the jet wash at lunch just to rinse off road salt before i wash properly when i get home.

I had some odd marks on my white paint, some kind of surface contamination. I managed to remove this easily with dodo juice lime prime which is a pre-wax cleaner sith mild abrajsive properties. I then just applied some new wax, never co side red it might be rust though.

The black spots are some type of tar - discussed on lots of other car forums. I posted this topic on the Skoda forum as I have these darn things all over my white Yeti, wife's white Aygo and our new white up. They are easily removed with white spirit, and a bit of wax polish.

**** annoying though and this is the first year I have noticed them. Someone suggested it is "molasses" they mix in with the road salt - not convinced though.

A case for the X-files I think!
