I've just noticed today that one of the chrome mirror caps on my car is not seated properly; there is a gap of about one eighth of an inch between the cap outside edge (farthest from the door) and black mirror surround.

Does anyone know how to remove and/or re-seat these properly?

Pushing the cap back in to place (gently) does not seem to help - it just springs out again.

Take it to the dealer to fix back in place as they'll know how it can be done. Or if they break it, you'll get a replacement.

Apparently it's very hard to do without breaking!

You have to remove the glass, then unclip the trim around the outside of where the glass is, then you can unclip the housing...

Not something I would like to do!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions folks, I was just looking for a 'quick fix' since I don't have much time at the moment to take the car back to the dealership. I'm always a bit nervous about tampering with trim items anyway and, without the right info,my efforts usually resultin a pile of broken (expensive) bits.
