I had exactly the same issue, took it back to the dealer and the clutch friction disc springs were broken. They fitted a new, uprated clutch (and told me they'd done a lot of them), and it performed faultlessly in the 3 years and 27000 miles until we got a Tsi.
Don't be put off by anybody (inc the dealer) fobbing you.
Many Ups, Mii's and Citigo's have had the same problem.
As 911ts3 said, My 2012 High up! has this problem but mine's on its way to 60,000 miles.
I'm the second or third owner so clearly hasn't been given much of a look by anyone else, but sometimes when I reverse off my drive (which it grinds into when cold as well) it will simply not let me into first.
Attached is a video of my car in a bit of a state (it was a long work week) but just showing the difficulty in getting into first, after leaving reverse.
Our 62 plate Seat mii used to do this, also reverse was a pain too. We used to select 2nd gear first, then go to pull away (just enough to get movement), then knock it down to first. Never tried the, leaving it in gear & starting it with clutch in , then seeing if there was still a problem.
I have the same car that I bought new in May. I found the gearbox quite tight when new and had issues with the biting point of the clutch. I took it to the local Seat dealer after 150 miles. They took it for a quick drive with me and said everything was fine but if I was still not happy to bring it back after 1000 miles. Things are much better now and car changes gear perfectly. Basically, it takes 1000 miles for clutch and gearbox to bed in. If you are not happy book it in for a warranty inspection. Warranty on clutch is 6000 miles/6 months as confirmed by Seat dealer. Good luck.
I have a Seat Mii with the semi-auto gearbox. This is basically the same car as a VW Up. The problem I have is that the digital gear display on the dash does not change between D mode and M mode.
It displays D1, D2, D3 etc.., in D mode and when in M mode it shows D followed by whatever the last gear was. Quite simply I have no way of knowing which gear I am in when in M mode.
Otherwise the car drives fine. Is this is a software glitch and what the fix be. any suggestions.Thanks.
