My wife grazed our Mk5 Golf over some raised bricks this morning. It has gouged out some of the sill protection (the lumpy bumpy stuff)

It still seems to be the same material in the gouged bit, so has not gone right through.
Does anyone know what the sill protection is? Is it just really thick metal, or some sprayed on material?

I'm wondering what I need to do to fix it (if anything)

Ps, she's not borrowing my up! Lol...

Hi Red it used to be a spray on plasticy - gunk - back in teh day when I could be *rsed to mess about fixing up old cars you could get a pot of it and sorta spread it on under the sills. If the scrape had gone thru to base metal I would recommend a coat of protective - have a browse in Halfords etc they will have a suitable product Im surethey do stock this
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_782709_langId_-1_categoryId_250451
which could be cut to size along the length of the sills
Dunno how good it is tho ( as in long term adhesion )
let us know how things pan out :)
