Just tried changing the plugs on my up and I can't pull the coil packs off the plugs, I've summoned as much power as I can and the rubber bit just stretches and stretches , i don't want to rip the rubber bit off the coil pack, has anyone else had this issue? Any ideas ?
I pretended to be Thor and managed to get mine off. All I had to do was loose the skin off my knuckles! Its tough but doable. I too was worried but there was no other way.
Still have the lower tubes in a bag, I have not found the APR coils yet... (not in a descent price). last time I pulled the coils they went out smooth...
It has been said that a little bit of silicon grease on the inside of the sleeves (on reassembly) may help next time.
Has anyone had problems doing that?
It should in theory be non-conductive and not damaging to the 'rubber' sleeve.
It helps when the engine is warm.
Put some silicone spray between coils rubber and the engine block.
Before pulling off electrical jack, you need to use a flat screwdriver and release that small "teeth" on the top of the coils.
At the moment its the electrical connection at the top that is causing me a problem, that little peg. Maybe not being forceful enough, but then I don't want to break anything.
I see on YouTube getting the coil rubber out can be a pain too, I wondered whether a shot of silicone spray may be ok. What is the long spring down there for?
