I have a slight crisis this morning. The offside front brake of my High Up is making a dreadful squealing noise which stops when the brakes are applied. I don't have time to deal with it now but I'm guessing that a stone or something is trapped in the caliper. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

I'll have to use the Take Up today.

Try reversing a short distance to see if that dislodges the foreign object.

Same thing here, as I live in the woods and small dust and rocks skip in and out of the brakes all the time I cleared the dust by breaking... SWEDISH STYLE!

The Swedish style often works.
But when it backfires, it costs you .

How hard is it to check if something has lodged in the caliper

not very hard at all, it is no different to changing your bake pads, it should only take 20-30 mins

Basically as you suggested, I drove backwards and forwards up and down my street a few times and it suddenly stopped. I didn't brake harshly for fear of scoring the discs, so my next move would have been to take the wheel off and have a look, but I didn't need to luckily.

I drive on gravel roads Every day. Up! Seems to easily catch gravel in the breaks. No car I have owned before have had gravel in the brakes. Coincident? Who knows?

I live on a gravel surfaced private road so that figures.
