...do VW dealerships offer parts exchange for second hand cars?

Again, yes, I know it's probably a really dumb question but I'm looking to trade in my alfa and get a 2nd hand high up I've seen. Only issue is they don't mention anything about PE anywhere on any website unless you're bringing back another VW on PCP (the main VW website that is).

I'm trying to calculate borrowing rates from the bank vis the dealer (banks almost always 100% cheaper for me) based on an estimate of my PE but it's all for naught if The dealership won't do it.

Yes if they can make money out of the deal.

I once traded in 2 second hand cars for 1 newer second hand car !

Most franchised dealers will accept part-exs of other brands, but typically the terms of their franchise forbids them from selling other brands on their forecourt - so the car is quietly disposed of either via auction or to a local second hand car dealer. You may therefore find that a car from a different brand achieves a lower valuation as the dealership has to protect itself from losses.

Obviously I know that dealers do offer PE as part of their retail model but there's literally no mention of it anywhere on The VW website. I just wanted to make sure there was that option available, but at the moment I'm not sure where to go. Private I could push £7k, PE I've been offered £6k from another dealership but they don't do UPs (and I really want an UP, both to limit costs and to ensure my partner can drive something she's comfortable with).

Decisions decisions. Realistically the forecourt at Alfa would sell mine for around £8.5k so I'm looking at minimum £2k below that value, probably more from a non Alfa dealer. I'd be happy with £6k from VW if I could haggle it up or the value of the vehicle down (the UP is listed at £10k).

I'll let you know how I get on...if anyone cares that is. I originally joined this forum after ordering a full spec high up, but for one reason or another It fell through and I inherited the alfa. But now I want the UP again so...maybe another up owner in the next week or so. Edited by: Fidel_Castronaut

We traded in two Ford KAs - both three years old - one at 57,000 and one at 19,000. Dealer got a quote through the trade and shipped them to another garage. Price we were offered was reasonable. But we were buying new from them.

they will get a 'stand - in' price from other dealers etc then offer you that price plus perhaps a wee bit of discount from the car you are buying

trick is to find out the stand-in price of the car you want to buy!!

I've already noticed a couple of them have been taken down from the site because they've been sold. Looks like the 2nd hand market in UPs is pretty buoyant at the moment which is good for all from new owners.
