OK, so I have posted on here about my gearbox needing to be changed again.
Vw have given final verdict, it's my fault.

This thread here
upownersclub.co.uk/forum/poorly-up-gearbox-fault_topic1509.html
Shows it isn't just me, I'm paying an independent specialist near on £1000 to fix, rather than the £2600 vw wanted.

I've decided once this is fixed, I'll be taking vw to court, anyone who has any similar problems and any official responses, I'd be very grateful if they could pm me!

Thanks in advance

Indeed, just noticing this thread. I have had a similar rebuttal from VW (however they are not claiming it is my fault rather that there is not an issue or an issue that needs fixing).

Would be interested to hear more from you.

Just Been reading about your gearbox problems , I have had two ups that I returned to Vw warrington ,they were
13 /plates nill milage so really new, then .bought two brand new ones blue /red from a dealer in Chester I picked up yesterday
Witch are both 14/registered but getting to the point the reverse gear now has changed
You have to push down and select reverse .the other ups I had didn't do that I asked
The dealer why ,he said they had changed it ,because they had problems with the old style gearbox
It sounds that could of been one of the reasons why , hope this helps with your enquiries Regards phill

Interesting thing is that I have a small supplement to the manual explaining that reverse gear now requires the gear lever to be pushed down. However, even though my Up is new, I still have the old gearbox which doesn't require the lever to be pushed down.

Hi Umiamz, is your Up slightly older than Philip's? I wonder if they were maybe just finishing their supply of the older gearbox when you got yours.Edited by: jcpren

Yes, I ordered mine towards the end of February and got one that was just about to arrive in the UK. I don't know when it was actually built but I would guess a couple of weeks before.

The gearbox has a slight rattle/shunt noise when changing gear sometimes and the clutch pedal creaks on occasion. The latter seems to be because the pedal is a bit loose compared with the accelerator and brake pedals. I'll have it looked at when I get the chance.

Hello all, thanks for the information thus far I have started the process.
It's not that quick, have to get a response to the data protection request first to see what info they hold about me prior to serving the notice.

I'm still grateful for any info anyonehas if tthey've had similar.

I might pm a few people in due course!

Thanks again.
