The "standard" tyre fitted to the VW Triangle Black wheels is the 185/50 R16. This ensures that the "rolling diameter" remains constant with the smaller standard diameter wheels (14" & 15") with respective "standard" tyres. This is critically important if you want to keep your speedometer reading accurately. If not, you can rely on your sat-nav for your speed? If you want to go to a lower profile than 50 on the same wheel you ought to consult a tyre supplier. Can't help you on prices as this will depend on which size tyre you eventually settle on...

Choice is relatively limited in that size, and the tyres expensive
VW didn't exactly pick a common tyre size for the up!

You might want to try 195/45/16 for better choice, bit wider, but at comparable prices.

To get a quick idea of what's available, check out the German site Wheelmachine

Pick your rim size (extreme left) then scroll down to tyre size, then select summer (Sommerreifen) or winter (Winterreifen) tyres.

They'll list much of what's available, with prices in euro, so you can compare a few compatible sizes.

If you look at a higher profile tyre, like 195/50/16 , prices drop and the selection is bigger ...Edited by: _1S_
