The small wheel size means the UP is sensitive to changes in load, and we are recommended to change tyre pressures accordingly. But constantly inflating/deflating the tyres is a real chore/bore when your loads change all the time. My question is whether there is a mid-way pressure that satisfies both the 'fully loaded' and the 'empty' criteria?

On the 15", 16" from past Up's we've had, now on the Gti 17", I use 30 psi front, 28 rear.. The recommendation from VW is for much higher, (If I remember 36 psi), which in my mind is way too high. At those pressures the ride is much harder, and the tyre grips less.
I've used these pressures over 5 UP's, and nearly 6 years, and have seen no increase in tyre wear, both on the outside, and centre of the treads.
I keep those pressures whatever the load.
