Hmm, I did consider that when taking up the free offer.If are unfortunate to have an accident that results in a claim you "only" loose 2 years of your NCP, so it not too much of a penalty.
Also protected NCD's are a double edged sword. If you do have a claim, yes, your NCD is protected BUT you are stuck with your existing insurer as if you tried another they would bump your premium up because of your accident record. Then your current insurer can increase your premium if they choose to, making it uncompetative. Edited by: Rooster
I think even if you stay with the same insurer, they will put your premium up after a fault accident, protected no claims or not. That's why it's so cheap to protect your bonus, it doesn't give you anything but maintain a number printed on a piece of paper that you had at the start of the policy
