On the subject of price, of the 58 GTIs I can see on Auto Trader, it's certainly one of, if not the cheapest when one considers age/mileage/spec.

The dealers I spoke to at the weekend were certainly going to price it higher so I feel it's competitively priced, all things considered.

To be honest, it's such a great wee car, it's no hardship keeping it another year and enjoying it for what it offers. I just get bored quickly lol

Hello, send me your email address and I'll send plenty on.

I'd be prepared to travel to the border to make a deal easier if required.

Hi Marti

Quick question (sorry, have a TSi so no need of a GTi) I see you have wind deflectors fitted. A/C as standard, how and why do you use them and are they any good ?
Good luck with the sale, car looks sharp

Hi Mike,

I tend to fit them to cars simply because I like how they look. They do a good job of keeping moderate rain out when the windows are down although I'm less convinced by their ability to deflect the wind away tbh...but I have the same thoughts about the Mugen version fitted to my Civic!

For 11.5k I would expect the owner to have had it serviced by a main dealer.
Let's all just remember that you work for VW, and hence have a totally biased opinion here.

Perhaps if people had more positive experiences with main dealer servicing, they'd be more willing to use them, but as it is many people will pay more to take their car to a reputable indy.

Good luck with the sale Marty.

The OP has a nice car and it is well priced in my opinion. If I still lived in the UK I'd seriously consider it. Good luck with sale! As for dealer and specialists... I avoid both when out of warranty. The "specialists" I have experience with I find much worse than dealers. These were AMG specialists and Land Rover specialists... they didn't have a clue! I take all my cars to a local mechanic that doesn't specialise...but he knows his cars, invests lots of money in equipment and various courses for him and his employees.

I pop in an out of this forum every 6 months for a nosey as I got sick of the pointless never ending what's best shape, 3 or 5 door? what's the best colour? remap etc etc arguments on the GTI page and now I see this main dealer/specialist nonsense some clown wants argue about when a guy just wants to sell his car, nobody is forcing you to buy it. I hope you get what your looking for Martin (y)
