Hi Folks

I am working with Quaife Engineering to produce an Anti-Torque Bias Differential specifically for the UP GTI.

This will work perfectly with the Traction Control and reduce wheel spin, improve grip, reduce tyre wear and reduce torque steer and well as improving braking!

I have had to order a production run of 10 units which should be with me around Christmas 2020. I will keep one unit for myself and sell the remaining 9 units at the Quaife RRP of £715 plus VAT. I will be setting up an Ebay trading account to offer these differentials to the general public. I would welcome any feed-back or interest from members of this forum.

Thanks

Michael

Hi Mark

Thanks for your interest. A Very good question and I don't know the answer right now, but I will check this out and include a post with the details!

Perhaps somebody else may have a view on this?

Hi Micheal,

Yes I would be very interested, I had been looking at modifying a Quaife diff to fit the gearbox but this will be a much better option.

Kind Regards Chris

Hi Chris

I agree!

I am really passionate about the UP GTI and with all the serious mods and upgrades its critical to get the power down on to the tarmac!

This Diff will be the missing ingredient and will transform VW UP performances!

Will keep people up to date where I can.

Kind regards

Michael

Caution.

English clearly isn’t the OP’s first language. The sentence construction bears all the hallmarks of a Latin based language, although this may have been transferred from another.

The OP has also appeared from nowhere, is overly friendly, claiming to offer a solution to many people woes, and has already mentioned an eBay account from where he is planning to extract £715 + VAT from those who he has onboard, which is clearly the motivation of his post.

I would suggest that at very best, Michael is a translation of his real name.

Then again, I may be completely wrong, in which case, I stand to be corrected.

I’ll finish just as I started ... Caution.

Please stand to be corrected! I understand your concern and I would perhaps have the same. I am planning on uploading correspondence between Paul Read at Quaife and myself plus pictures of the original open Diff and drive shaft I sourced from ebay which Quaife asked me to provide in order to measure and plan for a new production model.

My Reg number is NV68 HHR and my postcode is HG2 0DJ. More details to follow.

Jacara

Get a life man!

Having had a number of personal scam attempts made against me through various sources I can understand the climate of 'sensible paranoia" but you are taking this too far!

In a perfect world I would just have a one-off model produced for myself but Quaife said it wasn't viable for them to do this so I am forced to lay down quite a few thousand pounds to get what I want.

I need to recover my costs and therefore have to off load the unwanted diffs. I thought this would additionally help fellow UP GTI enthusiasts such as myself get a benefit.

If any of you other people shares Jacara's concerns get in touch with Quaife Engineering, Paul Read is my contact there and he can answer any concerns or questions you may have.

Phew!

Jacara, I'm fairly new here, but this post is really offensive.

There's nothing wrong with his English.

How is his post "overly" friendly ?

If he weren't English, what exactly would be wrong with using a translation of his real name anyway, on an English-language based forum ?

This kind of stuff spoils the atmosphere of a forum :(

When I asked the lads a Rent4ring at the Nurburgring if the Swifts I’d driven many laps in had an LSD they said they said “ don’t need one with such low power “
These cars run Ohlis ,roll cages , 888’s ,endless pads ect but don’t need a diff.
My question is does the UP GTI need a diff?
Maybe ...if you run 185bhp like the JSB job but I’m not sure ( could be wrong ) if your running std or even 145bhp would be a worth while mod?
Btw I had a Quaife in my last car , fitted at Awesome GTI for £750 if I remember correctly .

Thanks Sean

I am planning to upgrade to the TTE Hybrid Turbo, and HG Motorsport downpipe and Sports exhaust plus Stage 2 remap, so I could be in the same BHP territory as JBS

Cheers

In that case you’d should see the benefits when hard on the gas and exiting corners hard.

Thanks Sean

I am hoping to do some track days as well as the car being a daily driver, so I can explore the full capability!

Currently producing 165hp and by spring should have 220hp+
I think most owners would agree the ediff as VW call it is poor at best. Just take a look at Misha Charoudin YouTube Chanel when he had his Up on the Nordschleife and the constant ediff applying brake on wheel slippage rather than a ATB diff and his car was only 150hp+

Thanks Chris

I would love Misha to try out my GTI on Nordschleife when it has rear disk conversion, plastic windows and carbon seats with everything else planned :)

Genuinely hope this gets off the ground - a front diff could make a huge difference. Not cheap though, potentially £1100-£1200 fitted (I paid £250 to have a diff fitted 147GTA about 10 years ago at a specialist) means it's a big investment on a budget car and you may struggle to get 10 people on board? Having tried to arrange group buys on forums in the past, it's never easy!

Thanks Matty for your encouragement. It has ended up as a group buy !

I think the size, dimensions & proportions of the UP make it a very investable car in terms of upgrades! I could have bought a VW Golf GTI but as an ex mark 1 mini enthusiast, the Up is the ultimate small car.

Cheers
