It took 3 days before your realized what's wrong with "opieoils". Now you are telling you knew all of these already. No you didn't. But I'm glad I did help you. You're welcome. ?
Any 5w40 or 5w30 engine oil grade will work a treat in the vw up engine. The only model in the up range that vw recommend a 0w20 grade oil is the up gti model and even this model can run on 5w30 oil as well.
VW doesn't recommend any "grades". They have their own specifications. For 0w-20 it is something else than VW502 00 or VW504 00. If you have owner's manual for GTI check it from there. It's no rocket science. ?

Oh dear.
Wrong again:grin::grin:
Don't give up your day job for the mind reading act.
Is it your normal day to day thing to call people liers?
So I've not realised anything wrong with opieoils search engine. If you're too dumb to read the actual spec. Which will clearly state not suitable/suitable for long life/flexible servicing that's your problem.
No it doesn't. VW504 00 is for long life which is not needed for most of up!s. VW502 00 is good enough for most of up!s, if not better than VW504 00 for fixed service intervals.
Edit: Just to remind you. There is no "502" or "504" specifications.

Umm. So the inferior oil must only be used for the extended/flexible service schedule:grin::grin:
How did you figure out which one I was referring to when I didn't put the zeros
Nope, the manual that comes with the GTI doesn't even mention it. Unless they've now produced one the manual that came with my car didn't have anything specific to the GTI anywhere in it.
Why do find that hard to believe? It's not a guess, it's a fact. My car did not come with a specific manual for a GTI, the manual was for all the other models.
Wow just read all this. Going to drop a bombshell in and say I use shell helix 5w 40 and have done for years with no issues and have used it In most of my vag cars. Only my 8v s3 got different oil due to the heat cycle and been heavily turbocharged. At the end of the day its a simple engine doesn't have heavy heat cycles. 5w 40 is more than enough for the job. We've had our up for 5years and over 80k on it now

This is correct. My car is a late June 2019. It is a manual for the whole UP range, and only mentions the Gti really, in the "petrol engines" options section, page 236.
I can find no specific text in relation to oil specification for the Gti anywhere.
I have found the UP manual not clear on what kind of oil to use.
Fiat manuals on the other hand have a clear table of all lubricant fluid to use for each kind of engine amd a recommended brand and type of oil. They put also a photo of the oil cans to make simple to find the correct oil.
Now the interesting thing is that for Grande Punto, the suggested oil for turbocharged diesels is the WR 5W-40 that is into VW 502 00 spec PLI LUBE RECOMMENDER
But for the 1400 cc petrol engine is the Selenia K.P.E. also VW 502 00
PLI LUBE RECOMMENDER
And for methane engines is the Selenia Multipower Gas that is not in spec with VW 502 00
The problem is of course that sounds strange that an oil designed for diesel engines is good for petrol engines and viceversa, due the different temperatures and the different leaks one gets from piston rings.
