As i open the door on the up! Under the trim on the paint to the rear is a plate with a hole in it. Corresponding on the door frame is a recess with a black plastic trim where the plate locates when shut. Theres nothing in the recess.

Is this a deadlock option on higher models ? Had the same on the polo for the last 3yrs and never figured it out.

Really cant seehow it adds anything if its not locked in place. Which it isnt. If that was the case why put a hole in it?
The hole suggests a locking pin which isnt there. Possibly something from a foriegn model?

side impact protection, if you hit the door, the door caves in and the plate angles down and locks...needed on the 3 door because the door is long

That makes sense, my last two vws both 3dr. Hope i never get the use out of it !!!
