Just driven home in the pouring rain and noticed a LOT of watery rushing noise from the rear wheel arches. First time I've driven it in wet conditions so I'm not sure whether it's normal or not. The nearside rear wheel arch sounded loudest. Is it just a lack of noise insulation?

Thanks...

I'll stick my head out and say its normal. I've driven in heavy rain and it sounded pretty loud, but as there's little to no insulation there I expected it.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm fine with it if it's normal :)

I put some Dynamat Xtreme sound deadening on mine. It helps quite a bit.

I turn the radio on and the noise disappears.

When the road is excessively wet, the noise from the rear wheel arches is my only real complaint about what is, an otherwise, exceptional vehicle.

Although, I do wish VW had fitted rear wheel-arch housings.
