Hi does anybody know what size wiper blades the UP! needs for both the front and the rear? I cant find this in my manual (skoda citigo) and there dosent seem to be anything on the Halfords website either. Has anybody purchased new wiper blades for there car yet? And what make did you buy? how much? Thanks.

The Up! etc. has 'flat' wiper blades (i.e. no metal frame) which should last significantly longer than convential blades if looked after, because the blades are better quality and the pressure is more evenly distributed along the whole length.

I believe Champion make the OE blades for VW so these will be the best ones to get when you need them - you should't need to resort to clumsy adaptors etc.- and you won't need to go to the dealer.

As far as the rear wiper is concerned, as it is a combined blade and arm, these tend to be more vehicle specific and more difficult to get, other than from the dealer - at least in the short-term.

I think, the cheapest way is to buy original blades from VW Passat - this is only the rubber - You need 2 pcs. of 1K0 955 429 B. Then replace the rubber only. Total cost should not be more than 10-12 EUR.

A pair of them from VW can be bought online for £30.17
Not too bad for a genuine part I thought. They are sold separately too, at £14/16 for left/right respectively.

When I had an Octavia, as part of a scheduled service, rather than having them fitted to the car, I asked to be supplied with a box of replacement blades. The box had printed on it ALL FOUR logos: Skoda, VW, Seat and Audi.
I've no idea of the different costs or whether all four marques charge the same. I do know that the same multi-function steering wheel option was £150 on the Octavia and £250 on the Passat. That was a few years ago. Comparing the up! and Citygo options prices, some are the same and (I think) one Skoda price was MORE than the up!

Always try dealer first as a starting point as you may find prices are not that bad,i recently compare price of wipers for a Golf with Halfords and Halfords were more expensive than dealers for own brand wipers and there touch up kits were £3 more tan a genuine one.

I can get tyres for my BMW almost as cheap as anywhere else, so why bother with nasty tyre places. At bmw they clean the car for me.

Most dealers will do you a good deal if you push them a bit. It's better to make a teeny profit than have the workshop idle.

Got a rear wiper and that is the easiest removal and replacement of any wiper on any car I have ever owned. I am amazed they don't seem to get stolen, they are so easy to remove.

Try your local TPS (Trade Parts Specialists) who supply genuine VW Audi Skoda Seat parts to the trade and do **** good discount to members of the public as well.
(Eg On Monday I bought genuine VW oIl filter, air filter, fuel filter and 5 litres of fully synthetic VW approved oil for my wife's TDI Tiguan, cost? £55 - including vat, you could barely buy 5 litres of the correct oil for that from some parts places). It wouldnt pay to go anywhere else.

There is a Euro car parts next to my work and they regularly have discount codes for their website. I got one at the weekend and do click and collect. I have also told them about online discounts and they just match them in the shop.

As you say ECP is very competitive, but only if doing an online purchase using one of the copious discount codes. It always amazes me when I go to collect an item I have reserved that there are people just walking in and asking for a part. They are paying almost double the actual price!
