I have been on holiday for about a month with some work days in the middle, just enough time to clock up 280 miles on the up!

We have been in Berlin for a while now and there are very few ups around. Most have garage or company livery.

We have hired segways, electra bikes - not electric, the old heavy style, open topped bus tours - might even rent a smart car for a day.

There is a 'common wheels' type rental system as well as traditional car hire. A mini and a smart are in our street in Potzdamer Platz which you can rent by the hour and leave them practically anywhere.

Off to the Jewish bakers for fresh morning pretzels and bread.

The bakeries in Germany are so good! Sound like you're having a great time. I've never been to Berlin but spend a lot of time in Cologne with work. On our free days we go out in segways around the Dom. Enjoy yourself and put some pictures up

I imagine the Up might be a bit small for many Germans. I recall that in Munich everyone seemed to drive a posh car such as a VW Golf, or a Beemer.

German bread is lovely.
