Can you describe the "fluctuation"?

 

Round town it's fine, but at higher speeds there a slight judder on the steering wheel and can feel a bit on the pedal also.

 

Probably a warped disc. Only way to know for sure is to jack it up, front wheels off and check the discs for run out with a dial gauge. Had to do this a couple of times at home over the last three or four years with a couple of different cars. Aftermarket discs aren't what they used to be. One set we had warp were Brembo too.

 

Don't have a dial gauge. That's that idea done then..

 

Could also be the bearing or a tyre or wheel balance....

 

I would suspect a warped disc, however, vibration under braking can be caused by wear anywhere in the suspension system: bearings, bushes, balljoints etc

 

I seriously give up..cannot be fcuked anymore.. I'll prepare the car for sale. Just been bloody MOTd recently too. I give up. Offers around 9k takes it. Like I say, I'll make an advert up.

if it wasant there before you changed the discs and pads but is now its diffo out off true discs which is either faulty discs or the hub not being 100% clean when fitting , either take off and refit or get the discs exchanged should fix it, but as a rough way too test if you dont have a dial gauge rest a screw driver on the top off the brake caliper and spin the wheel with the tip close too the disc and see if the gap alters,

Yeah that would have good, thanks for that..pity. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone nearby might offer. Ain't taking it to a garage, cost me £100 minimum for them to diagnose the issue. Then probably try and sell me new brakes. It's likely a simple fix too. Shame.

 

yes garages can rip you off if not carefull but if you only recently fitted the new discs and they turn out too be faulty they should be replaced free

Good day Dusty. Yeah even if they are faulty, it's the hassle of ordering more, then replacing them and returning the ones I've taken off, to then probably be told they're fine. Pity I've no one reliable or helpful to at least have a look without skinning me. Crap situation. Brakes are only on about 4k miles tops.

 

I understand your ‚situation‘ and ‚anger‘ about your car very good -> it seems to be a ‚bad series‘ so far I followed your posts… (…neighbours who damage it and so on…) !
But a friendly ment hint:
Don‘t ‚overreact‘ ! (…as I myself often do, too 😉) and sell it in a hurry -> the next car will bring other / new ‚problems ‘ for sure !
It‘s ‚only‘ the brakes (which are still working !), it‘s only a car (which sometimes has an issue) - take a deep breathe and search for the right one in this community who‘s going to help ! ✊✊❗

Had the same problem with my wife's car (2018 Up GTi Tornado Red). Failed MOT due to what I would describe as slight fluctuation which didn't have much effect on braking performance. Nonetheless, I changed the front discs and pads and car has been perfect ever since. The original discs showed very little wear so had them machine skimmed to keep as back up. For the record, The car was nearly 4 years old with approx 20,000 miles. Replacement discs were EBC type D2252 D series premium OE and pads DPX2150 Ultimax OE. The discs are ceramic coated to prevent rusting. As no further problems with fluctuations I have assumed that the original problem is with poor quality Discs and Pads not being well matched.

 

Any links to those consumables? Might be worth a shout. Not sure if I bought rubbish or not. Did some research prior to buying. Apec Black I bought.

 

Rule out wheels/tyres first, by swapping front and rear as a temporary test. Half an hour effort?

 

looks like you got good quailty discs so could be an unfortunate bad disc or not cleanly set on the hub,
EBC type D2252 D series premium and pads DPX2150 Ultimax OE. is the ones jbrwn got look up EBC company then input your car details,

 

I fitted some " Brembos" about 10k ago and they have warped giving exactly the same symptoms as you have, fitted some new ones (not Brembo) and it removed the problem completely - just down to shoddy quality control, the name means nothing anymore ... shame as Brembo had an excellent rep back in the day
