Brakes squeak in wet

Have a 2015 High Up. In the past month or so the brakes squeal on first depressing the pedal. Happens when there's been heavy dew overnight/and or rain. I had this problem with my auto polo and it got so bad over the years that people would turn to look. VW had all kinds of excuses etc etc. So you can imagine I'm not happy that it could be happening again. Anyone else have this experience?

My up! went through a phase a couple of months ago where during city centre driving everytime I went to stop it sounded like the brake pad had fallen off and the disc was rubbing against pure metal. It was a horrific noise. People were turning and looking! It's approaching 12 months old even though isn't only been on the road 7 months. Thankfully it hasn't done it since :/

I had horrendous squeeling from a front disc. Resolved by braking while reversing. Must have removed some debris.

I've had this happen to me TWICE now. (First encountered this on an A-reg Vauxhall Nova but never again on any car, until now) Grit/stone gets caught between disc and metal 'shield'. First time I took car to dealer; reversed and noise stopped. Second time, I just reversed; grit dropped out and noise went. I've also heard it on an up! driving past me.
NOTE! This is NOT to be confused with the 'grinding'/rubbing noise from overnight rust build-up after wet conditions, nor with other occasional and random noises I get from my brakes!
