Hi all,
My 2012 1.0l UP's clutch has finally gone at 115k miles. Garage near me quoted 500. I dont know if i should do it myself instead. Ive got experience changing brake rotors and pads, oil/fuel filters, suspension. As well as a brother with similar experience for an extra pair of hands.

If you haven't changed a clutch on a recent FWD car, you might want to get it done professionally. If you have access to other cars during the fix and don't depend on the Up!, & have tools, it's more just tedious than rocket science (from looking at youtube videos). It's possible a 2012 may have the older, smaller clutch, so look into using the later clutch.

As above, if it's on the riginal clutch, then u grade it to the later one, which is from a Polo. $ months into ownership of my new 75bhp High Up , the clutch failed, and the dealer replaced it under warranty with the bigger diameter Polko unit. at the time, they'd had a lot of clutch failures, and he told me that "we always change them for the bigger diameter one"

If known, are there part numbers or diameters for the Polo clutch?
Also, did later Up!s get the larger Polo clutch as standard, and if so, when?

Can't tell you the part numbers, but the refreshed Up got a new gearbox, and bigger diameter clutch to match.

Was that at "facelift time" or before?
And am I right in assuming the newer 5sp boxes all have reverse to the right, down & back or was that another change not related to the 'box itself?

It was at facelift time Steve. I think you're right with the shift lever configuration, but honestly can't remember as it's six years since we sold our last one.
